PHF Seeks New Board Members Across Three-County Service Area

Pisgah Health Foundation is seeking community-minded leaders interested in serving on its Board of Directors and helping guide the Foundation’s work across Transylvania, Haywood, and Madison counties.

PHF works to improve health and well-being across Western North Carolina by investing in community organizations, bringing people together, and supporting leadership and collaboration around the issues that shape community health.

As the Foundation looks ahead, we are interested in building a Board that brings a range of experiences, expertise, relationships, and perspectives to that work.

Who We’re Looking For

There is no single background that makes someone a strong PHF Board member. We value a Board that reflects the diverse communities and perspectives of the region we serve, and welcome people with a range of professional, nonprofit, civic, community, and volunteer experiences. Most importantly, we’re looking for people who care about the health and well-being of Western North Carolina and want to contribute meaningfully to PHF’s work.

Applicants are asked to share:

  • Their professional, civic, nonprofit, and community experience

  • Skills and areas of expertise they would bring to PHF

  • Experiences, relationships, connections, or resources that could strengthen the Foundation’s work

  • Their interest in serving on the PHF Board

  • Their perspective on what helps a Board and staff work successfully together

  • The amount of time they can commit to Board service

Because PHF serves a three-county region, we are particularly interested in building relationships with prospective Board members from throughout Haywood, Madison, and Transylvania counties.

What Board Service Means

PHF Board members help provide governance, perspective, community connection, and strategic leadership for the Foundation.

We are looking for people who are interested not only in attending meetings, but in being engaged ambassadors for PHF—learning about the communities we serve, building relationships, participating in Foundation activities, and helping PHF stay connected to the opportunities and challenges facing Western North Carolina.

Board service is also a partnership. We value thoughtful dialogue, diverse perspectives, curiosity, good governance, and a healthy relationship between the Board and staff.

Interested in Serving?

Individuals interested in Board service are invited to complete an application.

The application asks about your background, experience, skills, interest in PHF, and availability to serve. After applications are reviewed, selected applicants may be invited to a conversation with PHF so that we can learn more about one another and explore whether Board service is a good fit.

Questions or want to learn more before applying? Contact Cara Bradshaw, Executive Director.

We look forward to hearing from people who want to bring their experience, relationships, and perspective to PHF’s work.

Applications are due October 31, 2026.
