WNCSource
At WNCSource, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunities they need to succeed. We help people build financial stability, improve self-esteem, become self-reliant, develop personal responsibility and contribute to the community. We provide the services, education, and advocacy to create these opportunities. Our programs include:
WNCSource’s contributions to the quality of life in Henderson, Transylvania, Rutherford and Polk Counties include:
Moving Families Out of Poverty…For over 55 years, WNCSource has helped thousands of families achieve long-term economic independence.
Improving Quality of Life…Knowing that their children are safe and happy in WNCSource’s high-quality child care programs, parents can pursue education and job training. With WNCSource’s Housing Choice Vouchers, families can afford decent housing and move toward home ownership and well-paid employment. Each family that succeeds provides significant financial savings to the community. By promoting and fostering active aging, we help older adults live independently longer.
Economic Benefits...Each year, WNCSource brings more than $9 million into the local community in federal and state funds, funding the most pressing local needs. This government funding is matched by $1 million in local support. Private and corporate support continues to grow, allowing WNCSource to stretch its dollars further to serve more people and enhance our programs. WNC Source employs 175 people and serves approximately 8,000 persons each year. WNCSource has the flexibility to choose where the need is greatest in our community and adjusts to meet changing local needs.
Savings for the Community…Operating numerous programs out of one agency allows for considerable savings, particularly in financial and administrative management. WNCSource uses just 7.6% of its operating budget for administrative support. This means that more than 92% of funds directly benefit low-income families.
LunchPlus
Silvermont Mansion 9:30AM – 12PM, Mon – Fri
Quebec Community Ctr. 9:30AM – 12PM, Mon – Fri
Does making a hot lunch for yourself hardly seem worth the effort? Are you interested in meeting other seniors and taking part in some fun activities? Why not join us for the LunchPlus Program? Activities start at 9:30 am and end at noon, including a hot, nutritious lunch.
We have two locations: the Silvermont Mansion at 364 Main Street in Brevard or the Quebec Community Center at 11846 Rosman Highway in Lake Toxaway, across from T.C. Henderson Elementary.
Age is the only criterion for county residents to take part. You must be at least 60. For couples, both qualify as long as one partner is 60. Transportation may be available, depending on where you live in the county.
Enrollment is required, but it’s fast and easy: Simply call 884-2255. We do accept money to help cover our costs – we’ve posted an income-based sliding scale as a rough guide to what seems appropriate – but no one who is unable to make a donation will ever be denied a meal.
As long as you’re out and about, we have more than delicious food on our menu. We know that staying healthy is much more than a matter of proper nutrition. No matter how old we are, we need to exercise our minds and bodies. The Plus in our name is all about helping seniors stay active and fit.

Funding is provided by the Home and Community Care Block Grant and local donations. For more information, call (828) 884-2255
Liquid Nutrition Supplement Program
Ensure/Glucerna liquid nutritional supplement products are available at little or no cost to low income Transylvania County residents with documented medical risks. A needs statement from a healthcare professional is required. Funding is generously provided by Lake Toxaway Charities, Home and Community Care Block Grant, and other local donations.
