Can you believe 2023 is coming to an end? This year has been one of growth, change, and reflection, and we can't wait to see what the next year holds as we work towards exciting plans here at Pisgah Health Foundation.

Looking back at 2023 and the notable impacts we've made on the lives of our community, we know we could not do this without the support of donors and our community. Our community thrives because of generous donors who want to see positive change in the future. Every gift matters! 

We are thrilled to announce some exciting plans for the upcoming year. After researching ways that we can make the greatest impact on our community, we have narrowed down a handful of areas to focus our efforts on. With help from others, like you, we can make great strides to lift up our region and improve the lives of our neighbors.

Your Gifts Lessen the Burden of High Education Costs

Scholarships for the Healthcare Field

Fourteen students passionate about serving in the healthcare profession received financial assistance through nursing and other healthcare scholarship endowments established at Pisgah Health Foundation.

Along with others in our community, we hope you will join us in raising funds to help make education more affordable.

Camp Bluebird 2023: A Successful Camp!

This year's Camp Bluebird 2023, hosted at the Bonclarken Conference Center, was a huge success! From October 17-19, over 50 cancer survivors joined together along with volunteers to experience a camp unlike any other. From numerous crafts, meditation, music therapy, health and wellness classes, and even a masquerade dance party, campers enjoyed 3 days and 2 nights of relaxation, respite, and fellowship, making memories and friendships that will last a lifetime!

Housing Needs: We Need Your Input

We have set our sights on addressing housing needs in our community. We are currently looking into ways the Foundation can make a positive, meaningful impact on this need and are asking you and those in the community for feedback, ideas, and support moving forward.

A New Public Park for Brevard, NC: Freedom Park

We are excited to announce we are exploring partnering with the City of Brevard to create a new park to be named Freedom Park. It will be located on Foundation-owned property near the hospital, and our goal is to further support the health and wellness of this community by providing an inclusive playground with adult fitness stations. 

Creating a Safe Field for All to Enjoy

In 2023, we supported the effort aimed towards improving the county’s only public soccer and multi-use facility, and providing a safe field for all to enjoy.

Funding from Dogwood Health Trust 

Through funding from Dogwood Health Trust, grants were awarded to nonprofits providing critically needed home repairs to their clients as well as to nonprofits providing invaluable services and programs to older adults in Transylvania County.

Some of the nonprofits that were awarded grants in 2023 include:

• WNCSource
• Meals on Wheels of Brevard
• Transylvania in Motion
• Community Housing Coalition of Madison County
• Mountain Projects

A New Event Venue for Brevard, NC

After meticulous renovations and planning, Pisgah Health Foundation hosted a Grand Opening for the Trust Center in November 2023, officially opening its doors to our area for corporate meetings, weddings, receptions, and other events. Formerly a bank, this building has been restored to become a premier event venue serving Brevard, NC and all of Western North Carolina.
